Menu Plan Monday

10:26 AM 0 Comments
Woops! It looks like I missed a couple of weeks there. Life got crazy with the start of football practices and all of the work that we've been doing around the house and I totally forgot to sit down and get the weekly post done! I did have menu plans though and I have to say that it's been wonderful knowing just what's for dinner each night and yet still being flexible enough to move things around when we need to. Of course, Ben doesn't agree to the moving things around. He loves routines, schedules and knowing exactly what's going on. Hopefully, he likes this week's menu!

Monday - Pizza
Tuesday - Chili
Wednesday - Cheeseburgers
Thursday - Chicken and Dumplings
Friday - Shepherd's Pie
Saturday - Out
Sunday - Lasagna

Book Review: Forever Friday

2:27 PM 0 Comments
Every Friday, a postcard.
Every Friday, a love poem.
Every Friday for sixty years.

Adam Colby is just doing his job, sorting through the unsold Alexander belongings after the estate sale. He is unprepared for what he finds in an old photo album, overlooked by the bargain hounds and treasure hunters—six decades of postcards and poems from Gabe Alexander to his wife, Pearl. The mystery of the Alexanders’ love entices Adam, a man unhinged by divorce and puzzled by the depth of commitment that he finds in the unabashedly romantic cards.

Forever Friday invites you to travel back in time to the early twentieth century Texas Coastal Bend where a young couple—Gabe and Pearl Alexander—are swept up in a miraculous love. As the heartwarming, pulse-quickening story of their relationship develops through Gabe’s poems, the Alexanders reveal a new way to consider what it means to be truly devoted to each other. Could the secrets of their love affair, laid to rest twenty years ago, hold the key to one man’s future?

I can't begin to decide what first drew me to this book...maybe it was because it was a love story or because it involved post cards or an estate sale...no matter what it was, I am so glad that I took the time to read this book. Once I picked it up, I had a tough time putting it down. Reading Gabe and Huck's love story made me sigh, laugh and yes, shed a few tears. Theirs was a love that all of us should aspire to have. This book is currently available for pre-order and I can't encourage you enough to order it and when it comes to sit down and not only read it, but absorb it. Whether your single, happily married or caught up in "Long Division"*, there will be something in this book for you.
