# cleaning # Finish It Friday

Finish It Friday

Wow, it's Friday already. This week flew by! I guess that's what happens when you keep busy and productive. I feel really good. It always amazes me what a clean space can do to my mood. It shouldn't. I mean, after all, it really is my dream job to teach people exactly that. I would like to have a therapy type practice that combines therapy with being a professional organizer. The first session would be in my office, talking to the person/people involved. Then, after that, the sessions would be in their home or office as I teach them how to purge and organize and show them how clutter around them affects the clutter in their heads. Now, I just have to figure out how to make all that happen. I'm seriously considering looking into becoming a professional organizer once I finish getting my house organized.

So, speaking of organization, my Finish It Friday for this week is to finish up in the boys room. Yesterday, I went in and stripped the boys' beds and put fresh bedding on them. I also cleaned out from under them. Now I know where some of the missing socks went to! Sheesh, the more cleaning I do, the more clothes I keep finding. I already gave away a garbage bag full of mine and I have a shopping bag full to give to my sister for her youngest.

Today, I'm going into their room and working hard on toy organization. They're going to need some shelves for their room but I'm going to do the best with what I have right now. I already went through and organized all the new boxes of Legos that Roger got for Christmas. I took them out of the boxes and put them into individual ziplock bags. I labeled each bag with the name of the set and the model number that was on the box. Then, I took one of their Spongebob popcorn tins and filled it with the ziplock bags. All the Legos organized and out of sight.

So, that's my goal. It's going to be so great to see their faces when they come in and see what I've done. Now, I want to see what you're doing. Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to open up one clothes closet or drawer and go through it. Do you have clothes that are too big? too small? too old? I want you to take them out, put them into a bag and take care of them. You can list them on freecycle, donate them to a shelter or other charity or even take them to a consignment shop. I'm only asking you to do one drawer or closet, but if you're feeling motivated, feel free to go ahead and do more!

Now, I know all about busy schedules, so let me give you a little tip. If you're going to take clothing or anything to donate or to a resale shop but you don't have time right this minute, bag up the items and take them and put them in the back of your car. That way, the next time you drive by those places, you have them with you and you can make a quick stop and drop them off. I list my things on freecycle twice. If they're not taken, I put them into the back of the van and the next time I'm over picking up the boys, I donate them at the Goodwill store there. It's quick and easy and I don't have to make a special trip.

I can't wait to see and hear all about what you've done!
