Bad Day

4:11 PM 1 Comments
I know that I promised everyone a picture filled wonderful post for today, but I'm afraid it's just not coming and I apologize. As most of you know, money is ridiculously tight here and I've been struggling to pay off the credit card debt that I left my marriage with. Well, as it turns out I didn't do good enough. I'm making payments on three of them, but one of my accounts got sold multiple times and by the time I finished tracking it down, it had been sold to a company that buys accounts just so it can sue for the money. This sounds so wrong and unethical, etc to me but it was made clear to me that this is what they do and this is what they're going to do to me. Since there is no way I can come up with $3000 before Friday..yes, this Friday..they're going to have me served on either Friday or Monday. So needless to say, I'm not much in a happy blogging mood today. I have a call into the Volunteer Lawyer Unit here but their machine said it could take up to a month for them to call me back. Keep your fingers crossed that this isn't the case.

Right now, I am a total wreck and so is this apartment. I have company coming tomorrow, but he's aware of what's happening and just keeps telling me that I'm more important than the apartment and we'll just dodge and weave whatever we need to. He's determined to stick to our plans and that we'll have a great weekend. I'm gonna try to put on a happy face and let the worry sneak back next week, but this is the worst time for this to happen...right before finals week.

Longer post tomorrow, I promise, but for tonight, I'm just going to leave you with a quote that I just saw on the bottom of someone's email. If I remember, I'll do a search tomorrow to see if it was said by anyone we may have heard of (or not). ;)

Your legacy is how you lived, and what you shared when it mattered.
How much you gave when there was nothing to receive.

Super Sunday Challenge

1:27 AM 1 Comments
Mystery Item

Okie all, I promised challenges and here's the first one. Name the above item. I found it at a local thrift store and paid $1.98 for it and yet, I have no idea what it actually is! I thought perhaps a gravy boat, but when sitting flat, there wouldn't be much room for gravy because of how it sits.

So, my challenge all of you this week is to name this item! If you really know, let me know or if you don't know, make something up! Who knows..maybe I'll send out a small prize for whoever either figures it out and for the most creative answer!

I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Oooh...Tidy!

Spice Drawer After

I did it! I went and organized that drawer. While I was at it, I sorted out part of the counter top and bagged up an entire grocery bag full of groceries that I'm going to post on freecycle here in just a minute. There are packets of crystal lite (discovered I can't have them because of the aspartame), containers of lemonade drink mix (I didn't need 6!) and some canned goods.

Challenge Response

We all have our favorite blogs..places we love to check in on and I'm no exception. One of mine is Forever Daisies. Her and her husband are getting ready to move and in the process are sorting out trash from treasures. She recently sorted out her junk drawer and posted pictures. Then, she challenged all of us to post pictures of our junk spaces. Well, my entire place feels like a junk bin right now, but I decided to go with my "spice drawer." As you can see below, it's too small to hold any realistic amount of spices so it somehow became the toss every packet, etc into drawer. Since I'll be moving in May, this one will be getting sorted soon! In fact, I might go do that after I post this and show all of you an after shot!

Spice Drawer

Now, I'm challenging all of you to go participate! It's ok, we're all clutter bugs in some fashion..show us your dirt. I'll be checking over on her blog to see what y'all come up with! ;)

Friday Night Thoughts

1:25 AM 2 Comments
Life has been so crazy with end of semester stuff and it isn't going to let up anytime soon, but I wanted to take some time to just post some thoughts and maybe some decisions, resolutions, etc.

This weekend, I so need to clean. This place looks a bit like a trailer park after tornado season. I need to take some time and just tidy and sort. I'm going to be sorting things that can be let go of and things that can actually be put away. That's the challenge in 300 square feet, there's just not enough places to put things away.

Next week I only have class on Monday, but I have yay me! company coming on Wednesday and staying through until Saturday. We're going to have tons of fun and if I actually remember, I'll take tons of pictures and post the play by play here later.

After that is hell week at school. I have four tests that week. Craziness. Then, a huge crazy final the week after that.

Then break! Woohoo! 4 weeks of no classes! Woohoo! Ahem. Sorry about that. I'm going into the last semester of my BA and I'm ready for the break that Christmas gives me. I have tons to do to prep for Christmas so I'll be curled up with my pazzles and presents for a good portion of everything between the 11th and the 22nd or so. I'll take pictures of everything and post those too! Woo! lots of pics coming your way! lol!

Now, would you believe it or not that I'm already scouting for moving boxes on freecyle? I've actually already got one box going and will be starting to seriously pack up over the next month or so. With a full semester coming up, I need to do a few here and a few there. Plus, this gives me the chance to sort out things as I go without it being so rushed. That way I can turn around post things back onto freecycle, too.

In the meantime, everyone have a good weekend. I'm excited to tell you that by next weekend, I very well might have my giveaway (and a fantastic etsy shop highlighted) posted and ..yes, there's an and! ...and I'm going to start posting a weekly challenge. I hope all of you will participate! See everyone soon!

Bead Guy

Yesterday, I decided to walk through the Student Union on campus and discovered that the Seneca tribe was there doing some instructional sessions. I stopped and spoke with some of the members for a few minutes about what they're doing and had a really nice conversation with a gentleman about Detroit of all things. It was nice meeting someone though who understood what I meant when I said Buffalo is a nice area, but I just don't feel a connection to it. He said no, of course you don't. It's not home. Nope, it certainly isn't and I'm looking forward to going home in May.

One of the things they had setup were these craft tables where you could make some really easy crafts. Now we all know that I could not resist stopping and checking them out. That's where I made the lovely lady you see above. I hadn't made one of these in years, but it was fun making one all over again. She's so simple..just buttons, beads and pipecleaner. Do you think anyone would buy these if I made some up for my "really I am going to use this" etsy shop?

I did! Yay me! I actually made this pretty ornament. I'm going to be making a whole bunch more of them for Christmas gifts. Who knows..maybe I'll actually list a few of the extras in my "someday I'm gonna use this" etsy shop. Until then, I hope you all enjoy these pics!

not so wild and wacky wednesday

7:52 PM 1 Comments
Okie, so on my list of things to do is seriously to blog. I dunno why I don't do it. Ok, yes I do. It's pure and total laziness. Shame on me! So to make up for it, I'm gonna write a whooole post here tonight about..ermm..well...ahh...

Oh! I know! I could tell you about my friend abby's blog. I seriously go there multiple times a day to see if she's posted. Her posts always make me smile and let me tell you..she is like the Queen of doodling. I doodle and it looks..well..horrible, but when she does it, it's art! I'm so envious. If you want to check out her blog, it's over on the top of my list. Somewhere over there ----> (or click on the above linky)

I called and talked to my boys tonight. Ben was very dramatically telling me how they had a substitute today because Mrs Garland wasn't there. It was Mrs Hubbard, who he likes, but she gave them a lot of work! They did math and Michigan history plus Mrs. Flynn gave him homework too! But, by 7pm he had it all done because he "has to leave the tv off until his homework is done."

Roger, my chatter box, told me in something like super sonic speeds about the video games they had just gotten, all the characters, all the bad guys, all the special moves and who plays which character. He did something like 3 games in 10 minutes. When I asked what else he was doing, I got ummm...as an answer. Apparantly though, the only thing he's doing in school is math. Why do I doubt that's the case? Heh..

Let's see..other than that, nothing new or exciting here. I have about 3 weeks left to classes for this semester and then I can "relax" (aka frantically get ready for Christmas) for a month until the next round begin.

Now, if I'm a good girl, I might actually have thrift store finds or crafty things to post here soon. I'm also working on coming up with a great giveaway so keep your fingers crossed for that! I'm not having much luck lately. If I'm bad, well..flip back and enjoy some past posts? love y'all!

Farewell to a childhood favorite...

3:55 PM 0 Comments
windmill4

So, like a good girl, I went grocery shopping yesterday. Not my favorite thing in the world, but I was out of all the important things in life; bread, milk and cereal. I was "happily" shopping along when I decided to scoot down the cookie aisle to see if they had the low fat/cal/whatever Lorna Doone cookies. For some unknown reason, I've been craving shortbread cookies and since I'd had a crummilicious day, I thought I'd earned them.

Now...imagine my shock and horror as I'm walking past the Archway cookies section and I see a sign that says something like "Archway cookies has gone out of business. Cookies will be available only until we run out of stock." I was dumfounded. I just stood there and stared at the shelf. Then, for old times sake, I picked up a package of windmill cookies. I would have gotten some raspberry ones, but they didn't have any. If by any chance they have more windmill and maybe some diet gingersnaps, I may pick those up in next week's shopping.

Another childhood memory come to an end...I'm sorry to see you go, Archway!

I'm such a girly girl in some ways. I love romantic type things, including this gorgeous bed! I think I'm in love with a bed! It's part of my someday file, the file where I tuck pictures away of my dream items.

For those who read here..let me challenge you. Sometime in the next few days, post a picture of something from your someday file.
